Exciting Things Happening this 25-26 School Year at Hanalei School
We are so excited to announce that Hanalei School will have a full-time teacher dedicated to STEM in β25-26! STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) fosters critical thinking, creativity and real-world problem solving with a hands-on approach. π§«π¬π§ͺβΎοΈ
The PTA in collaboration with @hanaleischoolfoundation was able to raise enough funds from a few very generous donors. Mahalo to our donors and everyone who helped make this happen! A huge part of this donation will be going towards the 6th grade science fair. A long held tradition at Hanalei School that was lost during COVID and we are so grateful for Paulette Adams, who will be leading this project. The incoming 6th grade students started working on their science fair ideas in the Spring of this year while in 5th grade. Mrs. Adams met with the students and got the excitement going around project ideas in either engineering or experimentally. The biggest component is the real-world implication. So students are having to look at daily problems or issues we face on the island, at school, home or in their own lives and try to figure out something that might help solve it.
Not only will the students get to have a school science fair with community judges, they could be selected to go to the regional fair held in Lihue in 2026. Winners at that level would go on to the State event representing Hanalei School.
